Biography

Nick is originally from Arlington, Virginia, where he attended the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology. In 2013, he graduated from the College of William & Mary, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a minor in Computer Science. In his time there, he studied classical piano with Christine Niehaus, jazz piano with Harris Simon, and organ with Tom Marshall. He was a regular member of the College's Opera Workshop, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo, and Wind Symphony, and performed with a number of other groups, including the William & Mary Choir, Botetourt Chamber Singers, Women’s Chorus, and Woodwind Ensemble. He was also a member of two major student-run organizations, the Wham Bam Big Band and the Sinfonicron Light Opera Company; with Sinfonicron, he was the rehearsal and pit pianist for productions of Thoroughly Modern Millie and Iolanthe. In April of 2013, he presented his senior piano recital, featuring a selection of major classical works as well a number of jazz standards, with a trio and vocalist.

In 2012, he performed George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the William & Mary Wind Symphony as part of the 2012 William & Mary Global Film Festival. He was one of two rehearsal pianists for the Conductors Guild 2012 Conductor Training Workshop, hosted by the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and run by JoAnn Falletta and Jorge Mester, and he has appeared in concert with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and with the Williamsburg Symphonia. He is featured in Paul Bhasin's score for the upcoming film Hogtown, produced by 9:23 Films and scheduled to be released in 2013. Nick was also a performing member and featured soloist in the Carolina Crown Drum & Bugle Corps from 2009 through 2012.
